Project SaranAlayam â€‹â€‹â€‹â€‹

 

Project proposal is to raise funds for a comprehensive infrastructure development suitable for senior citizen holistic care and shelter.​

 

SaranAlayam is located at a pristine 1 acre lush property in Mudur village, Vandavasi, Tamilnadu. Proposed site design includes communal living, dining areas, jogging tracks, gardening areas, recreational spaces, activity area and a 24-hour clinic for medical needs with emergency response system. ​​​​A dedicated team of trained caregivers, medical professionals, counselors, therapists and recreational activity coordinators, alongside administrative support staff will be employed.

Every contribution, big or small, will helps us take a step forward in our site infrastructure development, expand our reach to more elderly individuals in need and empowering the women in the local community.

Governance

​Trust members will work in close association with Govt. authorities, Legal advisors to be compliant in onboarding its residents. Board will periodically review the accounts/spends and will discuss on various aspects regarding  project implementation and review of the programs/activities undertaken. 

SaranAlayam will be monitored according to the highest human, social and ethical values with project project reported to donators in every step, progress.

Amenities 

Bedroom dormitory with courtyard, washroom, shower, changing rooms for women and men separately. Each bed is well partitioned for residents' privacy and equipped with study & storage space. 

Food & Safety

Planned nutritious and wholesome meals for overall health and well-being:

  • Balanced Nutrition. Easy to digest: Soft, easy-to-chew foods for dental and digestive comfort.

  • Hydration: Adequate water and fluid intake.

  • Special Diets: Accommodate specific needs (e.g., diabetes, hypertension, allergies).

  • Cultural Sensitivity/Celebration: Incorporate traditional, familiar food and treats.

Menu Plan:

  • Breakfast: Oatmeal, whole-grain bread, fruits, eggs, local breakfast with hot beverages, etc.

  • Lunch: Rice, lentils, vegetables, lean proteins (fish, chicken weekly thrice as per availability, nutritionists), and fruits.

  • Snacks: Hot beverages, any snacks etc.

  • Dinner: Roti, vegetables, dal, local dishes and fruits.

Food Safety and Hygiene: Proper food handling techniques, cleanliness, waste management and recyclables.

Medical Care

Comprehensive emergency care plan and routine check-up schedule for prompt and effective emergency care to elderly residents, ensuring their safety and well-being.
Emergency Care Plan:
• Panic button for residents to alert immediately
• Emergency Contact Numbers landline/mobile phone
• First Aid Kit: Ensure availability and accessibility 
• Emergency Protocols: Establish clear protocols for common emergencies (e.g., falls, cardiac arrest, stroke).
Collaboration with External Healthcare Services:
• Local Hospitals: Establish relationships with nearby hospitals
for emergency transfers.
• Specialist Consultants: Arrange for specialist consultations
and referrals.
• Diagnostic Services: Access to nearby diagnostic services
(e.g., laboratory tests, imaging).

Rural Women Employment Revenue Model

Empowering women in the community with stable income source (Candle, Soap making and other handicrafts) via the format of co-operative income. Apart from empowering women, the income will also aim to producing profit to be invested in long term viability of SaranAlayam.
